My fee is $180 per 60-min session.

The current Medicare rebate is $98.95, which brings the out-of-pocket cost to $80.05.

Rebates are available to Medicare Card holders with a Mental Health Treatment Plan and a referral from a GP or a Psychiatrist. Read more about the Better Access initiative here.

The Medicare rebate is valid for the first 6 sessions, after which your referring Doctor will review whether further sessions are needed - an additional 4 sessions can be accessed. There is a limit of 10 rebatable sessions per calendar year with a Medicare Mental Health Treatment Plan.

A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for cancelling or rescheduling an appointment.

  • Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice are charged the full fee session rate.

  • Cancellations made 24-48 hours in advance will incur a 50% late cancellation fee.

This is to acknowledge the time set aside for you, and the preparation that goes into the session.

Medicare Mental Health Care Plan

To access rebated psychology services through a Mental Health Care Plan, you should consider the following steps:

  1. Visit your GP or psychiatrist to discuss your mental health concerns and that you are seeking further support with a mental health professional such as a psychologist.

  2. If eligible, your medical doctor will then prepare a referral letter, at which point you can provide information of a psychologist that you wish to see.

  3. Once confirmed, you are eligible for the initial set of Medicare rebated sessions, and your referral letter and health care plan can be sent to your psychologist for processing.
